Weekly Pool Maintenance Checklist

This checklist mirrors the Blue Fox standard operating procedure. Print it, share it with staff, or use it to audit prior providers.

Arrival & Safety

  1. Confirm gate access is secure; announce arrival if homeowners are present.
  2. Inspect deck for hazards, toys, and pets before setting tools down.
  3. Verify equipment pad is clear and pump/automation status is nominal.

Mechanical Prep

  1. Empty skimmer baskets, pump basket, Polaris/robot canisters.
  2. Check filter pressure; note PSI delta versus last visit.
  3. Backwash or clean cartridge if PSI increase ≥ 8 psi or flow is compromised.

Water Testing & Chemistry

  1. Run complete digital analysis with calibrated meters (FC, CC, pH, TA, CH, CYA, Salt).
  2. Log readings into service software before dosing.
  3. Balance chemicals according to cheat sheet and surface type.
  4. Rinse and store test equipment properly to avoid cross contamination.

Cleaning Workflow

  1. Brush walls, steps, benches, waterline tile, and spa spillways.
  2. Skim surface debris moving clockwise to funnel into skimmers.
  3. Vacuum pool/spa (robotic, manual, or in-floor inspection).
  4. Inspect returns, main drains, and suction fittings for obstruction.

Equipment Audit

  1. Check pump motor sound, seal integrity, and prime.
  2. Inspect automation schedules, salt cell output, and alerts.
  3. Note any visible issues with lighting, water features, or booster pumps to review with the homeowner.

Final Documentation

  1. Photograph pool, equipment pad, and any issues or improvements.
  2. Enter chemical doses, notes, and recommendations into report.
  3. Confirm gates are locked, equipment is stable, and area is tidy.
